Zero Production Films
The greatest advantage that we get in our college life is that we get our chances to express or try out our talents that are sleeping in us through creation of video clips,short films etc. As my personal experience I tell you that the money has never been the important factor till date in any of my work, it was the ideas and concept that has been the main focus in me. Making use of the resources around me as been one of my plus points be it the streets around me or even the campus. There were friends around me who were always eager to help me out be it with the resources and equipments that I need or to be an actor if necessary. They have always been constantly supporting me in my projects; it is just that we need to find people like them. As we all are students there is no need to worry about our mistake as it is long forgotten taking into consideration that we are students .There is always many unique talents hidden in our life it is just that we need to explore them one by one. The passion is most important thing needed in moving our work ahead without it everything else is waste. It is told by many that they don’t get a stage to express their talents in. we actually don’t need one we can bring out ideas through short videos and clips which are very impressive way of bringing out of the talent.
College Reel
When I took BA JPEng, as my graduation course,My primary focus was given to Journalism course,as it can be a way to the world of cinema.But the course was more oriented to print media and I was not that good at writing. Then I waited for some platforms like shortfilm festivals where I can start woking with camera.But our college didn’t conduct programmes like this.But we students were always busy with assignment that we have to deal with the deadlines. Then I got an idea that it would be nice if I am making small video instead of Powerpoint Presentations.For the journalism cia my group was supposed to do the history part of journalism,I just discussed with the groupmates and they also supported for this idea.That night I transformed our study hall in our hostel to a press office and my hostel mates only acted in that 5 minute video which was shot in a handycam.Next day we got full marks for that CIA and I started doing the same thing for other subjects also.This gave me an opportunity to experiment a lot of ideas because the topics of each subject was entirely different.Also I tried to improve the quality of my video in all the aspects.Finally I made a small short film named ‘SMS’ for the General English CIA.Then I started doing small shortfilms like chess,levis,Once upon a Time,50 Paise,Arms and the man etc for the cias of different subjects.Each of these short films gave me different experiences.Finally I was very happy when I got the chance to make a documentary for the Political Science department of our college.Through this Blog I would like to share my experiences of my short film making during college days.
A Flash Back
After 12th ,each student will be in a crisis to choose the career option. Though there are many options before us but to choose among them, satisfying ourselves as well as our parents, is a challenging task.Since I was a science student in 12th standard,I also chose Btech as my career choice in the natural convention. When I really entered into the professional course, I found it very difficult to proceed and I couldn’t pay my full attention to the subject.My aptitude was something different. Then I tried to find out where my real interest lies.Since my childhood I was very fond of movies and I spent much of the time in film related activities.Even in PU I enjoyed most of the time in Extra-curricullam activities like dance,Mime,Drama and Mimicry.I just shared my problems to my parents with the course and told about my new aptitude .Initially they didn’t agree with my decision, but in the course of time they gave me green signal.So I quit engineering and then it was a tough time for me to find out the right course and college to start a new beginning. At least for one year I spent my time in pursuing editing courses in Kerala and coaching classes in Pune.During that one year I was all alone in these places and also so much worried about my future.Finally I decided to take some general arts course in any of the subjects and then would move to a specialised area like Film Making.
